C. K. Kenrick, S‘.M., William Lovett proceeded against John Bennett, on a juclg* merit summons for tho recovery oi £7 7s 6d, due for board. Mr Fookes appeared for the plaintiff, mid the defendant was ordered to pay the amount by instalments of lUs pe> week, in * default, 14 days’ in the New Plymouth prison. Mr Fookes on behalf of J. Masters 'and Son, obtained an order for the payment o! £5 6s Id, for goods supplied, against G. F, Smith, the amount to be paio on or before the Ist May, in default; 14 days’ in New Plymouth prison. At the Magistrate’s Court this morning, William O’Brien and Adam McKeown, both old offenders, were charged, before Mr W. G. K.Kenrick, S.M., with having, on tho second day of March last, caused a disturbance on the Stratford-1 eWcra xailway, for which they were each fined £3, in default, 14 days in New Plymouth prison. They were also charged with travelling on the said railway without having paid tho proper fare, and were fined 5s and ordered to pay the fare. On Sergt. McNeely being asked about the payment of these fines, ho stated that tho defendants would pay, they had been fined many times and had always paid up. One of the defendants had been convicted at least one hundred times, and had paid about £2OO in lines. Judgment by 7 default was given at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, in the following cases: .-Kemp and Sawle (Mr Anderson) v. J. J. Flower, £2 7s, and costs' £l. S. 11. James and Co. Chrmi.nn,sen £1 4s, and costs 13s; Ham.ab and Co. (W. G. Malone) v. J. Christiansen 19s lid, and costs 13s; Bellringer Bros (Mr Fookes) v. L. Rowson 16s, and costs 5s ; Bellringer Bros. (Mr Fookes) v. C. McPhee £2 13s, arid costs 16s; C‘. A. King (Mr Stanford) v. J. Flower 15s, and costs 10s.
