SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
THE EAST ROAD ANNUAL MEETING. T The annual meeting of the above club takes place at Te Wera on Friday and Saturday next and given fine weather, should prove a great success. Entries have been received from as far south as Waftotara, and include ,-v such well-known performers as J. Blair’s Flip, Jas. Hunter’s Wobbler, Tar, and Snider, and 11. McMulhan’s Fly, and many others, so visitors can rely on seeing some first-class performances. The number cf entries constitute a record for the club, over one hundred and ten runs having to be put through in the two days, and then there is a consolation event for unplaced dogs, also to be run. The following is a list of the special prizes to be won:—Mr. W. Kirkwood’s gold medal for Class 1., N.Z. Loan and Mercantile’s gold medal for Class TL, Mr. B. H. Bright’s gold medal for Class 111., Mr. Masters’ box of tea for the married man scoring most points, T. Jordan’s pair of spurs for single •man scoring most points, Mr. Wilson’s pair of spurs for youths under 21, Mr C. D. Sole’s special for runner-up for the cup, Messrs. Blair and Perry’s gold medal for outsider scoring most points, the secretary's special for the -competitor with the best style ot working a dog, and the club’s cup for the dog scoring most points, the latter to bo won twice in succession or three times at intervals.
