William Ramsay, of the Smoke Abatement Society, says that it is possible to sink a> shaft on coal-boaring strata and admit the oxygon required to burn the coal, and to draw off the eas producing electric power at the pit" head. It is believed mat- it is possible to manufacture sixteen units of electricity for a penny,, and also to transmit' it two hundred imiles.
