ALLEGED FRAUD.

A CHARGE OF FALSIFYING MUNICIPAL ACCOUNTS. BIG SUM INVOLVED. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, March 25. Frederick Percy Evans appeared at the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon on a charge of having on or about November 20, 1905, committed theft by receiving from W. B. Manley and Co. £lO on terms requiring him to pay the same to the Dunedin City Corporation and. fraudulently omitting to pay the same. Accused was remanded till 1C April. Mr. McGregor, who appeared for the Corporation, intimated that a charge of falsifying amounts of accounts would he' laid against the accused this week. He said it was almost impossible to state the amount involved, hut it would certainly run into £IOO. Bail was allowed in accused’s own recognisance of £l5O, and two sureties of £75 each..
