OPUNAKE ANNUAL MEETING. Favoured with line weather, the Opiumke Pacing Club had a great gathering and a very successful day’s racing yesterday, no less than £7780 being put through the totalisator as against £5550 last year, Mr. A. Morse got his fields away well from the (barrier, and Mr. \V. A . Young was successful in the judge’s box. Some close finishes and good racing was witnessed, and visitors received a hearty welcome at the hands of the club’s officials. Following are the results: — Maiden Plate, of 35 so vs; six furlongs.—R. H. Campbell’s Simple Sam, 8.11 (Nodder), 1; M. Brown's Kiwitahi, 8.11 (Jackson), 2; I). Barry’s Rouge Dragoon, 9.0 (Mclntosh), 3. Also started: Brown Star (Graham), Red Coral (Raynor), Millbanks (Coleman), Tollgate (Holmes), St. Prior (Monk), Mihirau (Barlow), Crawford (Milne), Princess Flo (McArten), Topic (Goldfinch), Royal Simon (Price), Patronale (Landless). Won easily. Topic was second, but was disqualified for having carried 5 lbs underweight, claimed as allowance, the race not being a handicap. Time, Imin 17 2-sscc.
