DOMESTIC SERVICE.
Following a proposal to organise a training school for waiters, the London County Council has under consideration a scheme for increasing the supply of efficient domestic servants. In the secondary schools directly conti oiled by the Council and in others which are aided there arc many bright girls holding scholarships with no piospect of a congenial future. To meet their case and to supply an urgent need it is intended to open a large establishment which will he at the same time a hoarding-house for business and professional worn ;n ana a training school for domestic servants. The latter will be recruited from girls who have finished their courses at the secondary schools. It is proposed that appointments as matrons and housekeepers in the various London institutions should be made from taosc who have been trained in this way.
