MEDIATION OFFERED. (Received 14, 8.5 a.m.) London, March 13. ■ Tho Miners’ Federation' has offered to negotiate with),'the 'owners',in 'van-' ous .districts for a settlement of all points at the earliest possible moment. THE GERMAN MINERS. (Received 14, 8.5 a.m.) Berlin, March 13. Out of 268,835 miners in the Ruhr district 110,10.7 entered the pits yesterday. There were conflicts between tho police and miners in several districts, ending in sabre charges, a number .being injured. N. 5.18. (ARBITRATION BILL. (Received 14, 10.10 a.m.) Sydney, March 14. In the Council tho discussion was continued on the amemlation of the Industrial Arbitration Bill. They have deleted the clause providing a penalty against employers locking out employees. THE GERMAN MINERS. (Received 14, 10.10 a.m.) Berlin, March 13. Three-fourths of the miners have struck. Strikers at Hearne stoned the police and the latter fired, killing one of tho strikers. At Hamborn the men are stoning and wounding many of the police. In the Diet Herr Dallwitz stated that the Government would do their utmost to protect the willing workers. THE ENGLISH COAL STRIKE. (Received 14, 10.20 a.m.) London, March 13. Mr. Stanley, .member for Northwest Staffordshire, says the decision to permit district negotiations is the most important step towards peace since the strike began. THE CHIEF DIFFICULTY. (Received 14, 12.50 n.m.) London, March 13. The Labour Press Agency _ admits that the chief difficulty in arriving at a settlement is securing .safeguards to overcome the owners’ fears of being fleeced in the matter of output if a miir’mum is granted. The joint conference lias adjourned.
