Constable Mackintosh left this morning by the mail train en route for Christchurch. He carries with him the good wishes of a host of friends in Stratford, among whom ho was deservedly popular, and we join with them in wishing him every success in the City of the Plains. A dismounted parade of the Mounted Hides was held in the school gymnasium to-day, the weather having made the ■ ground unsafe for horses. Sergeant-Major Dunham took* the parade, and infantry work was carried out. It is a fine thing to obtain the “greatest value” for your money.
