MOTOR CAR ACCIDENTS.
SERIES NEAR HASTINGS

Hastings, March 14.. A serious motor accident occurred last night, when Mr, Norman avoocUs' car, driven by the OAvner, and carrying his friends, J. Holden, junr., and George Stevenson, returning from the Napier Parle races, crashed into the “Hawke’s Bay Tribune” car, proceeding from Hastings to Fernhill. The “Tribune” car Avas driven by Whitlock, junr., and with him Avere A. E. O’Meara and W. Cook, dentists, of Hastings. The drivers of both cars, and Holden, Avere not hurt. •O’Meara sustained a compound fracture of the left leg. Cook suffered a severely lacerated leg and injured his kneecap. Both Avere taken to the hospital, Avhere they will remain for probably tAV() months. Stevenson suffered slight concussion, but proceeded home. Both cars Avere badly smashed. This Avas but one ’of a scries of car accidents. Two collided on a bridge at Pakipaki, on Tuesday night. One was owned by Franklin, and the other was driven by Martin Ronjiia. Both drivers Avere cut, but Avere not seriously injured. Three cars coming from the races last night Avere 1 crossing the PakoAvhai Bridge, Avhen the leading car stopped, and the other tAvo collided with it. No one, Avas hurt ,but the cars Avere damaged.
