Replying to deputations to-day v. i icli asked that new station buildings should be made instead of patching the (.11 ones. Mr. Millar said this could only be done by borrowing money, or if it were done out of revenue it nmant increased rates. He got similar requests from ail over the Dominion, and they must not expect these tilings and then blame the Government for harrowing money to do them. Mr. Buiek, M.P., said tins was quite correct. The Government had to borrow the money. The deputation stated that the business at Palmerston station had increased. 7fi per cent, in the past five years, only one other station, Frank-. tnn-Hamilton, having a higher percentage id’ increase.
