SOUTH WALES
COMMISSJONER’S INACTIVITY
i(Received ,13, 10.10 a.m.) Sydney, March 13
In the Assembly, tho Premier made a statement showing that strained relations between the Government and the Railway Commissioner bad arisen in connection with tho supply of engines. The Commissioner asked that engines be imported from England to meet traffic pressure. The Government favoured local manufacture. In 1910 they instructed the Commissioner to arrange for the manufacture locally. Since then nothing further was heard from the;Commissioner. The Government had faced the position, and must either depart from its policy and import engines or accept the responsibility of holding up !next season’s traffic.
