NEW SOUTH WALES IMPORTS. Sydney, March 8. , The’report of the Collector of Customs show's that imports into New South Wales last year were valued at £27,342,428, Britain and British possessions supplying £16,018,870.

At my XJrenui yards on Monday 1 had a good yarding and attendance, most lines being sold either at the hammer or privately. Mixed weaners made from £1 5s 6cl to £1 10s, 15 to IS month steers £2 8s 6d to £3 4s, 18 month heifers £2 13s to £3 25, : choice (in calf) 2 year Jersey heifers £7 10s., yearling mixed £2-ss* 2to 24 year steers £3 14 s to £4 6s, store cows £2 4s to £3 7s 6d, cows and calves £3 11s 6d, forward cows £3 10s to £4 4s, fat cows £4 19s to £5 8s dairy cows £5 16s, bulls £2 12s to £5 2s. At Douglas on-the same day, for my monthly sale and weaner fair, I had a very good entry and a good attendance of buyers, "bidding throughout was brisk for all classes, especially weaners, which were all cleared at the hammer at advanced rates. At my Stratford yards on Tuesday I had again a very heavy yarding, including a big entry of weaners, all pons wore well filled with all classes of stock. Store, forward cows were easier, but 18 month and 2 year heifers were in demand at better values. Six fine pens of 180 fresh conditioned year bullocks were yarded on account of the Nukuhakere Station. These cattle, notwithstanding their long drive, were very clean in coat, and elicited very spirited competition, each lot being cleared at the hammer at the following rates: —Two pens £6 J9s 6d, two pens £3 11s, two pens £C 3s Gd, one pen at £6 Bs. Matthews and Bennett’s Weelt'y Report. Messrs. Matthews and Bennett icport that there was a good yarchug of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Prices were as follows:—Steers £4 Is to £1 135.Gd,0 fat cow's £4 18s, bulls £3 to £1 2s, .store cows £2 5s to £3 IDs, weaners 18s to 2os Gd, lambs (cull) 3s to 3s 3d, lambs (good) 8s Gd, ewes 9s. LONDON MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date Gth instant:—We quote present spot values for the following descriptions of tallow; Fine mutton 34s 3d per cw't., good beef 32s 9d, mixid 31s 3d. Market dull for fine mutton and lino beef. Wheat sold at 37s 7Ad o.i.f. Australian cargo. Market is quiet but steady owing to light arrivals; outlook encouraging.
