Also started: Gold Brew, Charlatan, Burrawang, Kwasind, Blairmount. Crossing tiie tan, Blairmount took control from Tadanga, who was .;ln tlie centre of the course. Indiscreet increased the lead to eight lengths, and Flavian ran up to .second place. Indiscreet still kept moving, and increased the lead to ten lengths, when Prizefighter at the back of the course set out in pursuit and took command at the haif-mile post, the next horses being' Obi, Flavian, and Eyeglass. Prizefighter led • into the straight from Flavian, Jacamar and Obi. Here Saxon it e pgt in a strong run on the centre, Eyeglass on the rails also challenging. A most exciting finish eVentuated. Saxonit© succeeded in dead-heating with Prizefighter, white Flavian was half a length away third. Then came Eyeglass, Jacamar and Cadoria. Time, 3min 57j|sec.
