SWIMMING NOTES.

(By Ampin Bios.) . A meeting of tho committee of the swimming club was held last night. It was decided to hold an afternoon carnival on March 14th. _ . A schopl championship was instituted, medals for first and second places, being, donated in the room. It was recognised that the present season is .somewhat advanced ,and it was therfore decided that the distances,be 25yds, 50yds, and 75jds.

The following programme was arranged for March 14th;—75yds Cup race, 75yds school championship race, 50yds boys’ race, 25yds boys’ race, 50yds ladies’ race, 25yds girls’' race, dives for men, boys and girls. ~ . It was decided that the carnival on ./, Mo.rCh, 14th be in aid of’ the fund for ... improving the bath. ;. ~ The ,chief idea of improvement at ij present- is to put down a few feet of. concrete round the pre- . sent border of the bath.

The 100yds distance of the champion cup will be swum on Thursday afternoon. • e ■

The Committee , decided that the final of allcupi faces be swum on the same day,as, the.heats. A vote of thanks was passed to the Stratford Band for their assistance in connection with the recent carnival. Thanks were also extended to the caretaker for.,his efforts in connection with the refreshments on March Ist. A similar, compliment was paid to Messrs McMillan and Fredric for work in installing the light. The following officers were appointed to control Thursday’s race:— Judges, Messrs 1). J. Malone and W. P. Kirkwood; call stewards, Messrs A. J. Davey and C. H. Potts; starter, Mr E. B. Stohr ; -timekeeper, Mr J. F. Watson.

D. J. Malone, Stohr, and Kelly /were deputed to represent the Club at the Sports Protection League meeting to be held this evening.
