(Received 26, 8.5 a.m.) Melbourne, February 20. At the Caulfield meeting the Stanley Steeplechase resulted:—Seadog I, Bigbob 2, Honqo 3. There were eight starters. Won by eight lengths. Time, 4min 42|sec. Harvester broke his leg and was destroyed. The stewards held an inquiry into Gunboat’s running in the Woodcliff Handicap. They accepted the explanation, but warned the jockey (Thornhill) for not persevering u ith his mount.
DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. Dunedin, February 24. The weather at Wingatui was not unpleasant for the third day of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s autumn meeting. The attendance was good, and the totalisator investments were £16,626, as against £13,626 10s last year. The total amount invested for the meeting was £41,961, as against £37,873 10s last year.
