ENGLISH COAL TROUBLE. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Ptess Association.) Loudon, February 23. The conference has been adjourned till Tuesday, when representatives of the Miners’ National Conference will be invited to join in the negotiations. The Magistrates of Rhondda have applied for 15,000 troops. “The Times” is urging the Government to prepare for the worst, and says it is doubtful whether any decision of the national conference in the direction of peace would command obedience.

The South Wales newspaper, “Labour Leader,” declares that unless the Government compelled the owners to submit, the stoppage of the mines is inevitable. SYDNEY WATERSIDERS. Sydney, February 23. The conference of the coastal steamship owners and Wharf Labourers’ Union has arrived at an agreement as to wages and conditions of work, but a deadlock has occurred over the employment of permanent hands by the Newcastle-Hunter River Company. The union demands their discharge, but the company refuses, and the union therefore declines to work thja company’s wharf. HELP FOR BRISBANE, (Received 24, 8.5 a.m.) Sydney, February 24. The secretary of the Labour Council has forwarded an additional £3OO to the Brisbane strikers. ;
