It was not a question for the law courts, but solely concerned Congress. Objection had been raised that the new government methods were repugnant to a Republican form of government. The courts held that Congress was absolute arbiter on this point. New York, February 20. The latest aviation sensation is that Attwood plans to fly- across the Atlantic carrying sufficient gasoline to last nine hundred miles. He hopes to replenish his supply from passing ocean liners. Aviation experts regard the scheme as visionary. A masked man jumped aboard the New York St.-Louis express when the train was momiting a heavy grade near Altamont and held up the passengers, robbing them of all their 1 money and jewellery. General Hertzog, in the Assembly denied the charges of racialism anc nepotism in connection with the civii service appointments. The latter were made in the interests of the service. Sir L. S.
