TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW RETORT.

On Tuesday the 13th instant 1 -held rny usual four-weekly sale oi above produce. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition throughout .wa,s very (keen ; tor all lines. The catalogue' comprised 173 bales and 339 sacks wool, 30(3 sheepskins, 29 casks, 3 kegs and 89 tins tallow, 733 hides and 103-1 calfskins, besides .the usual Quantity of hair, tails, bones, etc. • Wool.—Fleece that came forward mostly consisted of coarser and rougher sorts than offered at my previous sale. Prices, however, were well maintained and rwero at par with those ruling ,at previous offering. Lamb wool was in keen demand at an advance of kl per lb. Skins.—Very, few ’full .wools now offering and.,as a consequence they were kl higher. All other lines including pelts Land lambs sold exceedingly well at. prices according to amount of wool on the .skins. Hides.—No particularly good stout ox offering,'other lines were lower up Ho pi per lb. Oow hides met with excellent superior lines being Id'and ordinary -Jd per lb higher. One line of cow realised T-Jd per lb, equal,',to .£2 2s Sd per hide. Tallow:n—A large offering, prices declining os per ton. .Calfskins. —Small offering, all lines selling.'exceedingly well. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report : On Monday, sth instant, we held a sheep fair in our Stratford yards, when there were 3000 sheep yarded, a. 'fair proportion of which sold at the following prices; 2-tooith wethers 10s to 12s lid, sound mouth ewc-s Gs 2d to Ss lid, mixed 2-tooth 10s to 12s Gd, lambs 3s 3d to 7d. On Friday, 9th instant, we hold a ram fair in our Stratford yards. There was a good yarding of rams but the season was rather early for the sale of rams and very few wore sold. Prices realised were as follows: 2-tooth llomnoy rams 34 gns, Lincoln nuns ligns to 33gns. On Tuesday, 13th instant, we hold our fortnightly combined sale in our Stratford yards, when there was a large yarding of cattlo—lß9o head. Tho demand for young cattle was good, and as the ’hulk of 'the cattle yarded was of this class tho largo proportion was sold at tho following prices: Small weanevs 15s to 2ls, good weaners 29s to 31s, 15-18 month steers ■Gs Gd to Gls, 18-iiiontli heifers 57 Gd to G3s, empty forward heifers 89s to 955, 2-year old steers 73s Gd 4-o 82s Gd, forward cows 82s to 90s, -store cows 63s to 755, fat cows 90s to 102 s. hulls 40s to G7s Gd. On Friday, 19th instant, we lipid our monthly sale in our Kohuraiabi yards when we had a full yarduig ol cattle and sheep, practically ‘all of which were sold.
