HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
To-night’s programme at Bernard’s will surpass anything yet screened. The finest historical dramatic films shown nowadays are carried out on a scale which bears evidence of most exacting attention to all details in respect to the stage settings, costumes of the age and spirit of the plot “The Conversion ot St. Anthony” is a capital example of this work, and for all-round excellence takes a lot of beating. The photographic quality is superb, the acting and deleniation are artistic and perfect in every detail. The wonderful grouping', of the endless company of performers and barbaric magnificence of the various scenes tend to complete . a most delightful portrayal of a fascinating story. The picture deals with the profligacy of the ancient Egyptians, with the •' sudden awakening of St. Anthony to the claims of a higher life, his conversion, temptations, and thials before lie is purified, '.the effect of his preachings upon'his former mistress, her abandonment of her evil life, and her death in, the grotto, the dwellingplace of St. Anthony—all are depicted in a wonderful manner. “The Life-saver,” “Told in the Sierras,” and “The Lonely Villa” are dramas of the highest order. The laughter-raisers are of the best, and all the '. scenics are very clear and steady. The Rathe Gazette illustrates various events throughout the world.
