Christchurch, February 15. Tho New Zealand Amateur Swimming Championship meeting opened tonight in the Municipal tepid baths. There was a very large attendance, many who had not reserved seats l>eing unable to gain admission. Results :

100yds Championship of New Zealand.—First heat: C. Brice (Wellington) 1, L. Weston (Ponsonby) 2, Jerres (Opawa) and Claringbold (Wanganui) also competed. Won by a yard.'Time, 68 3-dsec. Second heat: W. E. Coolcson (East Christchurch) 1, A. O’Hare (Waitemata) 2. C. Welson (Waitemata) and G. Seymouth (Napier) also competed. Welson won, but was disqualified for omitting to touch the top of the bath. No time was taken. Third heat: M. E. Champion (Waitemata) 1, J. D. Stewart (Waitemata) 2. H, Walden (Hastings), R. Healey (Now South Wales) and E. J. Dawson (Dunedin) also started. , Time, 66 2-osec. Final: Champion 1, Weston 2, O’Hare 3. Won by four yards. Time, 63 3-osec. The Ladies’ Handicap, 33 l-3yds, was won by Miss A. O’Leary (Masterton), scr., with Miss L. - Mackay (Waitemata) second. Time, 25sec. J/ 66 2-3yds. Inter-chtb Handicap.—L McDonald (East Christchurch), 13sec, 1. Time, 50sec,u"m ' !{ One Mile Championship.—First heat: M. E., Champion (Waitemata) 1, Ru Newman (Dunedin) 2, Hill (Papanui) 3. F. J. Kernot (Ponsonby) also competed. Champion’s time' was 2o min 17sec., Newman’s 27min 3osec., and Hill’s 20m. 5 l-ssec. .Second heat: Felix Seymour (Hawke’s Bay) 1, C. Welson (Waitemdta) 2, C. H. H. Rich (Opawa)- 3.- • Also competed; E. J. McQuillan (Waitemata) 'and E. J. Dawson (Dunedin). The winner’s time was 26min 34sec. The final will not be* decided to-night.
