SWIMMING.

AN INVITATION DECLINED. Sydney, February 14‘. The Natal Amateur Swimming Association has invited the Australasian Olympic Committee" to send a swimming team to compete at two galas on their way to the Olympic games, and offered to contribute £IOO to the Olympic funds. The Association is unable to accept the offer, as they have already arranged to send the team by a different route. CHRISTCHURCH CARNIVAL. Christchurch, February 14. The mile heats will be swum tomorrow night, as Healy is unable to arrive to-day.

THE CHALLENGE CUP. Following are the rules drawn up for the new Challenge Cup Conditions Governing Competition for Challenge Cup. 1. The cup to bo competed for annually by members of the Stratford Amateur Swimming Club only, over six distances of 50, 75, 100, 150, 220, and 440 yards. 2. That the name of the annual winner bo inscribed thereon by the club. ' •• (, • ‘

3. Points to count: 3 for Ist, 2 for 2nd, and 1 for 3rd. 4. The club to present a. sold medal valued at two guineas to the annual winner and a gold medal valued at 15s to the competitor placed second.

5. In the case of a tie a final distance of 150 yards be swum. 6. In the case of a tie in a distance the points bo halved.

7. That all events bo handicap. 8. Entrance fee to cover all events be 2s 6d.'

9. That tho committee reserve the right to disqualify a competitor not having swum in all races, unless a reasonable excuse be offered by him.

10. That the club committee settle all disputes. 11. The winner of the cup must sign a receipt for same and furnish a guarantee to return said cup on demand.

12. All entrance foes to be paid in to tho secretary before starting.
