The Belgian periodical, Mouvement Geographic, states that the AngloGerman pourparlers relate largely to the Island of Timor, the half whereof belongs to Portugal, and the neighbouring Island of Cambing. Germany is greatly interested, and will compensate Portugal for the loss of the islands. “CLAWS IN VELVET GOLVES.” (Received 13, S a.m.) Berlin, February 12. The discussion on Mr Churchill and Lord Haldane continues. The “Nueste Nachrichten” says that Germany is grateful for Mr Churchill’s candour, at a moment when his colleague is among us with claws in velvet gloves. The Conservative “Kreuz Zeitung” states that no one in Germany .how doubts that the British Government means by an understanding with' Germany, the latter’s official recognition of the British claim to bb The arbiter of the world.
