WHANGAMOMONA NOTES.

A. fine mob of 323 cattle left here last week to fill the order of an outside buyer. They were tor the most part big stock, and were gathered from different parts of the district. Mr. Gordon Bowers paid a short visit to his farm hero this week. While here he purchased a nice line of ewes from Mr. AY. ANest, ot W intianaga A alley. Mr. AY. A. McCutchan has_ returned here after a brief trip outside. Air. C. Hallett, whose mud-covered team and smiling face were so well known here all through the roughest of the winter, has disposed ct ins team to Messrs. Oliver and Dunn, at a satisfactory figure. Charlie was one of the most popular and obliging drivers on the road.' He will lie lv missed from the AVhauga Saddle, Air H. Blair has disposed oi las bullocks and accepted an engagement with Messrs. Court and Cottier to drive their big waggon. A wedding was solemnised here art week, the contracting parties being Mr Bert Marshall an-cl Alias Davis, ol Kohuratahi. Both are well known here, and our best wishes go with them for future happiness. The local Domain Board are, in coniunction with the Tennis Club, effecting some substantial improvements to tne Domain culverting and filling m one creek, and Clearing away the stumps arid dead wood from the main ground. . 'Tii© Tennis Club have a wonting bee now that is making tilings move. They go down to the courts at 5 a m. work till breakfast time. They have got almost the whole of the excavation work done. The public school opened here on Monday with a fair attendance after the Christmas holidays. Both Air. Alills and Aliss Brice, teachers, have returned in. the best of health and spirits. Tills year should see attendance record again eclipsed. Hie new wing of the school will bo commenced next week, and will be ready for occupation in about two months. Air. Bottomlcy, of Moki Hoad, had the misfortune last week to be kicked in the throat by a horse, he is at present outside having his injuries seen to. It is only about three mouths ago since ho broke Jiis arm while busliielling, and ho had only eery recently returned to work. Five bullock waggons and eight big horse team waggons, beside the coach and light traffic, crossed the Whauga Saddle twice on Aloiulay. 'The bullocks are bringing timber for the new hotel and bank from Polmkura and Stiatmore mills. Air. A. Coxhcad lias brought in 100 fine wcauers from Inglewood, lor bis Buiikituna farm. Air. Newton King bolds a sale hero on Saturday.
