PTOMAINE POISONING.
SERIOUS CONDITION OF FIFTY PRISONERS. MANY PIGS DYING. (Received 8, 11.15 a.m.) Melbourne, February 8. Fifty prisoners at Pentyidge Gaol were stricken with ptomaine poisoning. Their condition was serious, but they are recovering. The refuse from the , dinner which caused the trouble was given to pigs, a hundred and fifty of which j are dying.
