A NEW FIRM.
MESSRS. WARD AND DUNLOP. In this issue appears the business announcement of a new Stratford fhm -r-Messrs. Ward and Dunlop, land ai d commission agents and manufacturers’ agents. Both principals are well known locally. - Mr. Ward has been a prominent figure in Taranaki for many years, and it is but a fy w months' since ho sold out from a tmjiving ironmongery business in Broadway. Mr. Dunlop has been for the last two years land salesman for Messrs. Young, Hobbs and Co., and before that was overseer in the Roads Department. He has thus acquired a first-hand knowledge of the back country. Mr. Dunlop knows intimately all the country extending from Eltham to Omona, Puniwhakau, Mangaehu, and Whangamomona, extending to the Wanganui River. To intending settlers in these rising districts Mr. Dunlop’s advice and services should be invaluable. Farmers have not been slow to take advantage of the experience and business capabilities offered by the firm, and already Messrs. Ward and Dunlop have a list of nice properties to dispose of by sale or lease. There is no question that, with the railway extension and general progress of the district, there is room in the land and estate business for a progressive firm in Stratford, and Messrs. Ward and Dunlop should do well. In addition to the above-mentioned, Messrs. Ward and Dunlop have secured the agencies for a number of patents and for the Guardian Assurance Company. A special line is the Klondyke butter cooler, which consists of two porous earthenware covers. These are kept damp by being dipped in water every two or three days, ,and are claimed to be second only to ice for cooling purposes. The Klondyke butter cooler, copper signs, and Madenett’s sweet-pea manure are additional manufactures which the firm stock.
