. : (Per Press Association.) Foilding, February G. The- eighth show of tho Foilding A. and P. Association opened to-day in line weather. There were record entries in all classes, horses, dairy and Hereford cattle and Romney sheep being particularly strong. Tho weather lias set fair for People’s Day tomorrow. Waihi, February 5. A young man named Albert Skinner was drowned in Bowentown Estuary yesterday. He was swimming nut to an anchored boat, and when close to the boat was seen to throw up his arms and sink. The body was recovered an hour later. Wellington, February G. At six o’clock last night a fire broke out in the drying room at tho Petonc Woollen Mills and completely consumed tiie contents, principally dyed wool. Prompt action by Manager Ramsden’s sons, who wore a little later assisted by the fire brigade, prevented tho fire from spreading. The damage is estimated at only £IOO.
