FIRST DAY’S ACCEPTANCES
The splendid acceptances received by the Taranaki Jockey Club for the Jrst day of the autumn meeting are a distinct compliment to tho handicapping of Mr. Morse, says the “News.” that gentleman’s adjustment of weights must have pleased owners and trainers, because defections from the list are very few. The local followers of the “sport of kings” can therefore look forward to a splendid meeting, and good fields from which to pick their fancy on Wednesday and Thursday next.
