JANUARY RAINFALL.
VERY MODEST TOTALS. Details of the rainfall from Stratford and the surrounding districts show that the dry season is approaching. On one day in December almost as much rain fell as was recorded for the Whole month of January. Inglewood, states that rain fell on fourteen days, the biggest fall being on January 3rd, when 1.02 in was recorded. Total rainfall, 4.42 in. Patea.—At Patea 1.83 points was recorded for eight days of rain, the maximum .85, falling on the 17th. During January^'l9ll', 2:loin. fell on six days. ' 1 ••>••' 1 Hawera.—The ' Hawera report is as follows: During January rain fell oh nine days at Ohawe, a total of o.Bßin ; •last year thei month* gave 1.46 in. on seven days,'and 1910 gave 5.27 in. on thirteen days. Elthaxn.—The rainfall for\Eltham for the month of January amounted to 1.62 in. Rain was recorded on twelve days, the maximum fall being 0.58 in on the 17th.
