CONTROLLING THE CUSTOMS

(Received 3, 8.5 a.m.) London, February 2. ,< The “Times” states that despite the icport of the financial committee published in the “Times” on December 2nd, the Government has decided that the Irish Customs and excise .will remain under Imperial control. Messrs Redmond and Dillon agree, but good judges • believe that the national assembly will reject the Home Rule Bill unless it provides for fiscal autonomy.
'•■ The “Chronicle,” in a forecast of the Bill, however, states that Ireland has full .control of Customs and excise. Subject to the continuance of Bfitjsh" free trade, she would receive a subsidy of two millions annually for fifteen years.
