Sydney, January 28. Tho Labour Conference adopted a resolution in favour of the introduction of a Bill providing for a six-hours’ day, fixing the pay for unskilled labourers at 10s, limiting the ago of employment in the public service to 6o years, nationalisation of tho Health Department, the limitation ol rents of the working classes, and the establishment of a State Fire and Lite Insurance Department. Tho conference resolved in favour of reforming, cheapening and consolidating law procedure. A resolution was adopted in favour of a minimum living wage of 10s per day for all occupations, with equal pay for women for equal work. •v _ * INVALIDITY INSURANCE. (Received 29, 8.5 a.m.) Berlin, January 28. Five hundred Italian foundry men at Luxemburg have struck owing to the masters deducting the men’s contribution for invalidity insurance. They stormed the works and bombarded tiis police with bricks. The police fired a volley killing t'ivreo and seriously wounding six of tho rioters. Soldiers restored order. BRISBANE TRAM STRIKE. (Received 29, 8.45 a.m.) Brisbane, January 29. After a procession in the streets and a big demonstration in the park, the Union leaders delivering fighting speeches in favour of strikes, a conference representing forty-three unions last night resolved that the action of the tramway,company in pro-, hibiting badges constituted an, attack on unionism, which was recognised under Statute law. Unless a satisfactory settlement is reached in the meantime, a .general cessation of work will take place on Tuesday evening* The result was greeted with enthusiasm. A great crowd gathered outside the halls.

Mr Bowman, leader of the Labour Party, in a speech, said the fight was not alone for trarnwaymen but for the whole union movement. , The Employers’ Federation had played a strong part in the trouble and the unionists wore going to teach them that if they wore going to stand liehind the Tramway Company unionists as a body would also take a hand. Tho manager of the Company declared that the men had appealed to law and tho company had decided to ,the law, settle the, dispute.

IRON WORKERS FOREG O ADVANCE.

(Received 29, 8.40 a.m.) London, January 28. Mr A. F. Hills, managing director, asked a meeting of Thames ironworkers to sacrifice half of their November advance in wages in order that tho company might secure the construction of two cruisers. Twelve hundred assented, there being only ton dissentients. Tho meeting was called apart from tho trades unions. GLASGOW DOCKERS. London, January 28. (Received 28, 9.40 a.m.) Glasgow dockers unanimously resolved not to retime work on Monday under the conditions which the executors of the union arranged with the piasters with a view to bringing Glasgow into line with Dundee and Livering with other ports with a view to pool. The strikers are communicata, sympathetic strike.
