A FARMER MURDERED

Sydney, January 23,

A mysterious tragedy was reported from Hillgrove last night. Mrs Watson, wife of a farmer, was awaiting tho arrival of her husband from the township, when she heard a shot and screams. Rushing out she discovered her husband beside tho cart he was driving, with a bullet wound in bis head. He died before assistance arrived.

A young man named Skinner has been arrested on a charge of murdering Watson. (Received 24, 9.50 a.m.) Sydney, January 24. No explanation is forthcoming of the cause of the Hillgrovo tragedy. THE BINGARA TRAGEDY. Sydney, January 23. It is reported that a man was arrested in Sydney to-night in connection with the Bingara tragedy. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Sydney, January 23. Mrs Bray has been committed for trial on a charge of the wilful murder of her child at Leichhardt on December 22, when she shot her husband and administered poison to herself and child. In his evidence, the husband admitted he ilnd his wife had frequent quarrels, and that she had threatened siiicidc. BALL ARRESTED. (Received 24, 8.15 a.m.) Sydney, January 21. Ball has been arrested on a charge of murdering his wife aboard the steamer Star of Scotland, lying in the harbour. He secured a billet as trimmer. The steamer departs for London to-day. Ball worked his passage to Australia a short time ago, and utilised the discharge then obtained in securing his position.
