THE REBELLION ENDED
(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) , (United Press Association.) Washington, January 20. The American Consul at Guayaquil announces that a battle was fought there and a thousand killed. The rebellion against General Plaza is now ended.
FIGHTING ALL NIGHT IN THE STREETS.
PANIC-STRICKEN RESIDENTS
(Received 22, 8 a.m.) Guayaquil, January 21. There was all-night fighting' in the streets.
A section of General Alfaron’s troops defeated General Plaza, a supporter of the Quito Government. The losses on both sides were severe. The inhabitants are in a state of panic, fearing that General Andrade will take the city.
