FIRES.

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, January 15. The Holy Trinity Parish Hall, at Otahuhu, was destroyed by fire on Sunday afternoon. The hall and furniture, including the piano, were insured for £l9O. The hall was a very old landmark, being built at the time the Imperial troops were camped at Otahuhu. Christchurch, January 15. A little before 7.30 this morning, the Kaiapoi Fire Brigade turned out to a fire iu the Kaiapoi Shipping and Trading Co.’s sawmill, at the back of Hanson’s buildings in Charles Street. The mill, a large corrugated iron structure, containing a good deal of timber, was a mass of flames, and tlie brigade centred its attention on adjoining buildings, mostly sheds, which wore considerably damaged. The mill was gutted and the boiler and engine were rendered useless. The other machinery was also destroyed. A house at Waverley, owned by Mrs Fife, of Marten, and occupied by Mr (J. W. Taylor, was destroyed by lire yn Sunday evening. The insurances are: £l5O on the furniture and £IOO on the building.
