In connection with the American nail service arrangements completed iy the Union and Canadian-Australian ices for fortnightly sailings, steamers o leave each month for Vancouver •_nd San Francisco, the timetable is ;o arranged that the sailings will be miformly regular. To secure _ this lie Maitai is advertised to sail on March 13th. She will be replaced by he Manuka, sailing on March 21st. OCEANIC COMPANY RESUMES RUNNING. OIL-BURNING STEAMERS. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, January 17. The “Herald’s” San Francisco cor•espondent states that as a result of in interview between Mr Taft and he Oceanic S.S. Co.’s representative, t is announced that the United States lovornment will pay a mail subsidy ol :wo dollars per mile to a line to carry nails from San Francisco to New Zealand and Australia via Honolulu md Paqo Paqo. This ensures the ■esumptiou of the San Francisco service by the Ventura and Sonoma, roittcd as oil burners. It is expected that the vessels will bo ready in June.
