LABOUR CONFERENCE. (Received 11, 9.50 a.m.) Hobart, January 11. The Labour Conference rejected proposals increasing the taxation on large estates, the abolition of the Upper House in State Parliaments, housing and financially providing for widows and orphans, and bonuses for large families. A motion for compulsory and contributory insurance created a long discussion, and was finally defeated.
