PECULIAR PROCEEDINGS OF A
PRELATE. ENTERS A COFFIN. (Received 11, 9.40 a.m.) London, January 10. Desiring to enforce the adage “ Death is the gate of life” at St. Michael’s Church, Stockton, Warwickshire, Archdeacon Galley entered a glasscovered coffin and was carried around the aisles. He returned to the chancel and, raising tho cover, pronounced the benediction and closed the service. Some of the congregation sobbed. Others were shocked, and departed.
