UNIVERSAL HALF-HOLIDAY.
(To the Editor “Stratford Post.”) Sir, —J, venture to ask for space for a letter concerning the above. My Chamber has been active'm this mat;er since, the beginning of October jast with a view to the amicable establishment of a universal half-holi-lay for Taranaki. The result is that the following towns have declared in favour of Saturday:—-Now Plymouth, \Vaitara, Stratford, Patca, Mantua, ind Kaponga. Inglewood prefers Thursday, but would, probably agree :o Saturday, and Normanby would ul.vot Hawera’s choice. Unaniminty >f Councils and Boards is, of course, essential, and my Chamber sincerely regrets that, Haavera an,d Eltham have lot advised us of their views. Pursuihcc of the blatter would at Hu?-stage >robably - end)'in confusion, and my jh amber deems it advisable to abanion the project in view of the necessity of the half-holiday being fixed this month. Efforts in the same direc:ion may meet with more fruitful remits next year. Thanking you in an■icipotion.—l am, etc., J. B. RICHARDS, Hon. Sec. Stratford Chamber of Commerce. Stratford, January 9, 1912.
