STEAMER PUTS BACK.
MACHINERY DEVELOPS FAULT AT SEA. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, January 9. The Wararoa had to come back to oort at 2 a.m. A crack developed in f he thrust box and the captain deemed it inadvisable to take the risk of going on to Wellington. Tbo fault is nothing serious, and the steamer will resume running to-morrow night.
