DISSEMINATING DISEASE.
RESEARCH AS TO PART PLAYED BY INSECTS. AN INTERESTING REPORT. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. United Press Association. (Received 8, 9.-10 a.in.) Sydney, January 8. The report of the Bureau of Microbiology in research work for the year, wliien was directed to determine the part insects played in disseminating diseases amongst human beings and stock, states that a rat was discovered suffering from leprosy, similar to the disease which attacks human beings. The Bureau was as yet unable to make a definite pronouncement with regard to the identity of the disease in t/tt” classes of animals. Further experiments with rabbit virus do not suggest a practical application in destroying rabbits in the field.
