CHANGES OF THE STAFF. (Per Press Association.! Wellington, January G. Important changes in the personnel of the New Zealand staff of the Salvation Army are announced in view of the severing of the Dominion from Australian control in army affairs. Colonel Birkenshaw becomes commander of the Sydney province. Major Johnson (Colonel Birkonshaw’s secretary) goes with him. Major Carmichael has been appointed provincial commander for the newly-constituted Wellington province. Auckland is created a separate province, with 25 corps, Brigadier Vince (Bathurst) being commander. Brigadier Gist. West Australia,, takes the command of the Christchurch province. Brigadier Jago (N.S.W.) takes charge in Dunedin.
