PALMERSTON TOURNAMENT

The team from the North Taranaki Mounted Rifles did very well at the big tournament recently concluded (It Palmerston. Lieutenant Joll was first in lemon cutting; the team was second in the Lloyd-Lindsay competition, and in the tent-pegging by sections they came second also, being beaten by one point—lß to 47. The men of the Straford Mounted Rifles were anxious to send a team to the tournament, hut it was felt that they could not ho prepared, so as to do themselves justice, in the time at their disposal.
