Sydney, December 30. Dick Arnst was seriously assaulted last night by a gang of drunken brawl:i‘s with whom he remonstrated. One if the men struck him on the head bvith a picket torn from a fence and •ordered him unconscious. He was onveyed to tlio hospital, where he is •cc-o,voting. During the closing year fifty-one ives have been lost in shipping disisters on the New South Wales coast. lA burglar was discovered in a xiardingliouse at Neutral Bay. Ho Ji I'catcned a lodger with a revolver md escaped.
