The Inspector-General of Hospitals forwarded a table, compiled with a view to the apportionment of representation of local authorities on the Board, and requesting that the Board consult witli the County as to whether they would prefer to see these members allocated among the ridings or simply apportioned to 'The County as a whole. The first table divided the eight members among the counties and the borough, giving Stratford County five melnbers, Stratford Borough two members, Whangamomona County one. On the ridings basis the East and Mangaehu Ridings have two members, South', West, and North Ridings one each.—The table and letter were referred to the County Council.
Dr. Talintine, Inspector-General, i wrote with regard to the question which had been raised as to tiie basis on which the -.Stratford and Hawera - Boards should contribute to the Sanitary Inspector’s salary. He was under the impression that it was agreed that eacli Board should pay', one-half of the Inspector’s salary.—Mr Ward stated that at the conference tile Inspector General had distinctly stated that it was agreed that the -Inspect tor’s salary should bo paid by .the local bodies on a valuation basis.— The Chairman said that all members who had attended the Conference were definite on that point. He thought that the Board should withhold payment of its portion of the salary until the matter was finally settled. If the Hawera Board insisted on this matter he didn’t think the Board should continue to employ the Inspector for another year.—The opinion was expressed that the only manner to settle the question was for the Hawera and local Board to meet, in conference. Mr Smith moved to this effect, and the motion was carried. It was also decided that the Inspector General he asked to attend if possible.
