A SPEAKER’S TROUBLES.
NEW SOUTH WALES ASSEMBLY IX AN UPROAR. FREE FIGHT IMMINENT. (Received 19, 10.30 a.m.) Sydney, December 19. In the Assembly, when Mr Wade left the Chamber' the Oppositionists gathered round the Speai-.erY chain and booted and shouted uncomplimentary remarks. The Speaker tried to call the Ser-geant-at-Arms, but be was unable to make bis voice beard above the din. The Minister for Mines gave him a hand, assisted him from the chair, and escorted him from the Chamber. The Oppositionists then gathered in the lobby.' Several bad their coats off and a free fight seemed imminent. All were wildly excited. A solid phalanx of Ministerialists, however, escoitecl Mr. Willis in safety to his room. 'I he Premier played a prominent part, preventing violence. Air. Cowly pushed his way to the front and forced the quarrellers apart by exorcise of his great physical powers.
