(Per Press Association) Gisborne, November 30. A native named Douglas was drowned at .Frasertown. He attempted to swim the river. Invercargill, November 30. The rainfall statistics for the month make interesting reading. During November rain fell on 20 out of the 30 days, and the total fall was 7.81 inches. In November of last year there were only nine wot days, and the total was 1.12 inches. For the three winter months the figures were: May, 17 days, 1.98 inches; June, 15 days, 2.25 inches; July, 15 days, 2.97 inches. November’s rainfall is the heaviest recorded here for many years. Wellington, November 30. A meeting of the newly-formed Wellington Rifle Association was held tonight, when a programme for the prize meeting to bo held at Trontham on January Ist and 2nd next was drawn up. The officer commanding the district wrote stating he was recommending that passes to competitors travelling by rail should bo issued. Generous oifers of support were received from all local rifle clubs. Cash prizes to the value of £l7O will be allocated for the. six matches, in addition to valuable trophies.
