THE ELECTRIC LIGHT QUESTION.
(To tho Editor “Stratford Post.”)» Sir, —I have hoard many and varied arguments as to the amount the Borough Council propose to pay for the electric light works. From the figures _ published" in ■ your igfe'uoi l ’6f ''the Bth instant, I make the price as follows £ Goodwill of business 4000 Present plant ... ... 5339 if acre-freehold (including buildings) ... ... ... 185 Water rights on South side of river which have just been acquired by the company at 300 Total ... £9821 The balance of the loan I understand is required for purchase of new plant and other improvements. If my reading of the position is correct I consider that the Council have made an excellent bargain, and that the ratepayers ought to take the chance offered them of municipalising this' concern. I understand that for the year ending 31st March, 1911, the balance of receipts over expedniture shown on the company's balance-sheet was £1043. If this is so, the excellence of the bargain made by the Council is the more apparent. My vote, at any rate, will jbo recorded on tho side of progress.—l am, etc., PROGRESS. Stratford, November 13th.
