THE V.R.C. MEETING. FOURTH DAY. TRAFALGAR WINS THE BIG RACE. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (.United Press Association.) Flemington, November 11. The actual records show that the attendance at Flemington has been several’ thousand each day better than the record last year. The last day was no exception. The weather was cool and bright. The principal interest in the day’s good all-round racing was centred in the struggle between Malt King, Trafalgar, and Comedy King. The Wallace horse had hosts of friends, who were afraid that Malt' King, coming in fresh and well after Trafalgar and Comedy King’s hard work, would triumph, The race proved the host of good things for Trafalgar, who maintained his load. I'. was,a slow,race for the first mile and a quarter, but after gaining the straight Trafalgar ran away, winning amidst ringing cheers. Results:—
Spring Handicap,of 300 sovs; I.V miles.—Orvieto, 7.11, 1: Nyan, 6.7, 2; Elvanito, 7.13, 3. Also started: Sanskrit, Radiator, St. Abbs and Eucaclor. Elvanito led to the homo turn, where Orvieto easily cut him down and won by a length and a half, threequarters of a length between second and third. Time, 2min 3sec.
Flemington Stakes, of 300 sovs; 5 furlongs.—Golden Hop 1, Misspent 2, Rockefeller 3. Also started: Kurrakai, Roaring Camp and Wavell. Misspent led for two furlongs, then Golden Hop passed and without elfort won by five lengths, two lengths being the distance between . second and third horses. Time Imin 2fsec. '• V.R.C. Handicap, of 7,50 sovs; If miles.—Cadonia, 9.1, 1; Mountain Oak, 7.5, 2; Crown Grant, 7.3, 3. Also started: Flavian, Bridge, Flavcl, Adagio, Mutilator, Posadas, Deacon, Skinner, Halloween. Posadas and Flavian together led round the riverside by three lengths from Cadonia. Then came Halloween, Adagio, Skinner, Bridge, Flaval, Mountain Oak, Mutilator, Crown Grant. Under the lash, Flavian maintained his lead to the home turn, where Posadas took charge. Mountain Qak, by a fast run, ran alongside Cadonia, and both headed the field together. Crown Grant then made a run. Flavian shot its bolt, and Cadonia drew away. A good race for second place. Won by It lengths, a short nock separating Mountain Oak and Crown Grant. Time 3min 2sec.
C. B. Fisher Plate, of 750 sovs; TJ miles.—Trafalgar 1, Comedy King 2, Malt King' 3. Also ran: Beverage and Lady Medallist. After turning out of the straight .furlong, Lady Medallist came away from the field, hut was soon caught by Trafalgar, who was in front at the bridge from Lady Medallist and Comedy King. At the six furlongs /Trafalgar had a three lengths’ lead from Lady Medallist, and half a length from Comedy King and Malt King. At the last Comedy King made a run, followed by Malt King, but it was a hopeless chase, Trafalgar winning by four lengths, half a length between second and third. Time, 2min 37f|sec. Victoria Steeplechase, of 500 sovs; about 3 miles.—Alert Dream, 9.13, 1; V.R.M., 11.4, 2; Wolseley, 11.11, 3. Also started: Lord Emms, Steam, Comus and Tamburello. Alert Dream and Lord Emms led all the way to the second to last fence, hut Lord Emms fell. Alert Dream meanwhile made up a lot of ground, and won by eight lengths, 12 lengths separating second and third. Tamburello was the only other horse that finished. Time, 6mln JOisec.
TRAFALGAR’S WIND-UP. (Received 13, 10.10 a.m.) Sydney, November 13. The “Daily Telegraph” states that by winning the Fisher Plate Trafalgar has wound up his racing career. Ninety employees 61 Hudson’s waggon w.qvKs struck for an advance of a shilling a day. MOUNT LYELL ENGINEDRIVERS. (Received 13, 9.1.0 a.in.) '* Melbourne, November 13. Though tiie Mount Lyell miners signed the agreement, the enginedrivers have still not signed. They are expected to sign to-day. During the strike the men lost £33,000 in wages. AN OBNOXIOUS STEWARD. CAUSES STRIKE AMONG SEAMEN. (Received 13, 9.10 a.m.) Fremantle, November 13. Thirty seamen and. firemen on the steamer Koombana- refused duty, demanding that the chief steward leave the ship. A meeting of the Seamen’s Union endorsed the strike. A wire from the Sydney Seamen’s and Firemen’s Union advised them to resume. They decline until the steward is removed.

The coal owners’ representative on tlie Coal Conciliation Board of England and North Wales has agreed to the principle of the minimum wage, which has been referred to local districts to report on by December 6th. A meeting of the striking woolscourers at Botany voted against the union officials’ advice to resume work, pending negotiations. RESUMPTION ALMOST GENERAL. Brisbane, November 13. A cannon claimed to be from Captain Cook’s Endeavour was found amongst the ballast a ketch brought from a Japanese pearl-shelldr. The latter states that the black boys discovered it on a reef off Cooktown.
