THE MELBA SEASON.
REMARKABLE SCENES. Sydney, October 26. There wore remarkable scenes in connection with Madame Melba s appearance last night. Many had waited at the booking office since eight o’clock yesterday night to buy tickets at nine'o’clock to-day, and waited all day at the theatre for the evening performance. , 1 ' • One woman waited for eleven hours, and fainted when about to enter ttho door, finding she had lost her tickets. Thousands were disappointed. (Received 26, 9 a.m.) Sydney, October 26. There was a great and enthusiastic gathering at His Majesty’s Theatre to witness Melba’s farewell performance. The diva was smothered in dowers, which were pelted from all parts of the house.
