W.o are asked to state that owing to an unfortunate mistake judgment by default was entered in the case cf Masters and Son v. G. W. Lumsden, at the, last sitting of the Miigistrate’s Court at Stratford, the case having been previously settled and the amount paid. The Stratford Cricket Club is making active preparations for starting play. A turf wicket is now being put down on the A. and P. ground, and members will hold a practice on Thursday. Donations of three guineas from Mr C. Jackson and one guinea from Mr C. Bayly, Toko, have been made to the club's funds. Extensive alterations have just been completed jn the N.Z.L. and Mercantile Co.’s office. The office had previously always been on the small side and the 'addition of three or four men to the staff during the past year made it imperative that / the office accommodation should be increased. About twelve feet square of the storeroom has been added to the office, and there has been installed a handsome double desk eighteen feet long which will do much to expedite the work of the staff.
On Wednesday, November Bth, there will be a general election of County Councillors, and notifications regarding the election appear in our advertising columns from both the Returning Officer of the Stratford County Council and the Returning Officer of tiie Whangamomona County Council. The election of representatives on the Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board will take place on the same date. Nominations for the seats on the Stratford County Council and for the Stratford Hospital Board representatives will close on Wednesday, the Ist November, at noon, and for the Whangamomona County Council the second day of November, at noon.
