KING EDWARD PARK.
A VISITOR’S VIEWS
A gentleman who was prominently associated with those who originally laid out and converted a hat is now general'y’ known' as Co New Plymouth Rc creation Ground from a a unsightly waste into one of New Zealand's acknowledged beauty spots, pard a visit with a member of our staff to King Edward Park yesterday, and while admitting that it was an ideal retreat for those seeking to spend a quiet hour, yet so much, he sard, could bo dorte at little cost to make it far more attractive. For instance, terraces wore suggested round the river, with seats at convenient distances, while more paths through the shrubs might be lard out with advantage. Exception was taken to the manner in which the present paths are constructed —that, is to say, tire curves were not pleasing to the eye, and hollows where water lies could be easily filled up with earth from vises. The visitor in question sard all that was wanted was for, say, one member of the Domain Board with time on his hands to go round and mark out required improvements, and then the caretaker could give effect to them. These are the views of an outsider, but certainly one who knows what ho is talking about, and perhaps it would be worth while for tire Board to give the matter some consideration.
